Every shell counts.īy basing the build more towards Main Battery, you don't need some big, fancy 15pt+ Captain to make Iowa work with her Main Battery firing tighter groups. With APRM2, it cuts down the 16"/50 dispersion by a good degree which is important considering you typically are firing only 6 shells, 9 at the very most compared to 6-12 guns of GK & Montana. The AA will reach out a tad bit further for air defense. AA or Secondary Battery Builds require too much high end traits to make it worthwhile, so I elected for a hybrid AA+Main Battery Build. When I did a few again recently, it was with a brand new 3pt Captain since I moved the original into Montana. Having the concealment you can go dark, and with her speed you can reposition as needed.Originally, I ran Iowa with full on AA Build, then haven't played her in ages. Iowa has good accuracy, and should be played mid to long range. Stacking CE with the Concealment module will allow you to be sneaky. The first 10 points should be used on the skills I highlighted in green above IMO. I may revisit the Artillery Plotting room modules in update 9.1, after the modules get reworked.įor the captain skills, survival builds work really well for the entire USN BB line (exceptions are Massachusetts and Georgia). Steering Gears Mod 1 (Really helps the maneuverability, especially once you get the C hull) The 16"/50 guns are a nice upgrade over North Carolina's 16"/45 guns, even with them both firing the same shells. I really enjoy playing Iowa, was also my goal when I first started.
